"Busy Bees" at Garden Wisdom

Spring has us sowing seeds like crazy! We have been "bussy bees", preparing the summer crop. How joyfull is too see our hairy baby plants developing their first, second, third leafs.

The different types of tomatoes, cucumbers, Italian squash, pumpkin, salad mixes, herbs like dill, basil, coriander; are all growing and in the last two weekends, we have been moving them from punnets to paper containers.

This Sunday we repackaged 30 tomato plants of different species, which we will later transplant into the ground. For now they are ready to grow in a bigger space, moving from care in the house, with extra artificial light and tempered mat to the greenhouse.

The tomatoes, joined the full series of summer veggies - fruit we are growing as transition for the summer season ! Every little one, looks strong and healthy!.

We also plant potatoes. Karen ordered the seeds from Diggers Club, and set out 6 potato bags. Each bag has soil that we have prepared with compost and horse manure rested in our compost area.

In parallel, our brassicas continue to give us broccoli, cauliflower and romanesco, with small sprouts on the sides, perfect for our dinners, just cooked steamed, as fresh and vital as possible.

And I am very looking forward to our Brussels sprouts. Of all the plants we planted, only two managed to mature and bear fruit. Right now they are growing strong and healthy, just like the 25 flowers we planted last may, Like cornflower, daisies, violas, snapdragon, calendula, snow flower, peas and sweet peas.

In parallel, this spring, we are sowing summer flowers: poppies, paper daisies, sunflowers, echinacea, cosmos, carnation. I'm looking for dahlias and chrysanthemums, if you have extra, I would appreciate some tubers.

If you want to know more about this garden, which I call "edible oasis", but which in practice is called Garden Wisdom, come to visit us this Sunday, we will be hosting Bayside Food Swap on sunday morning. Ask me the details!

Learn how we can change the world with urban farming and homesteading.

We: Karen- Ninna- Bayside Food Swap, invite you this Sunday to be part of the network of gardeners who share extra produce, seeds, tips and of course a cuppa, join us to discover our world of full abundance and grounded activism.

Lots of Love!
